mondays are nice, long days

On Friday, Keri and Rachel and I went to see a show at the Charter Oak Cultural Center to benefit Hartford Food Not Bombs. I know they serve vegetarian meals in Bushnell Park on the weekends, but I'd like to learn more about them soon. Most of the bands were from Burlington, VT- I've been wanting to see that city for months and months and I hope I'll get to go soon! Saturday Rachel and I played tennis and fixed our first flat tire (with only a little help from a passing mailman). I still need to get it patched or replaced soon. I probably just ran over a nail or something, but I like to think that it was cut when I was stopped on Park St.!

Our friends visited from Bridgeport, Boston, New York, and down the street (the two Americorps volunteers we hadn't met yet) and we had a lot of fun Saturday and yesterday- we ate a lot and danced a ton and visited Lyman Orchards yesterday (it is so beautiful there and I had the best apple cider in the world) and picked apples and pumpkins. Then we replaced the dinner group that couldn't make it to the Mac (Paul's shelter)- a lot of the clients that visit here for lunch live there, and while I was afraid some of them might feel awkward seeing me at their "home," for the most part it was a lot of fun. I was zero help grilling the hamburgers though...yuck.

There are a lot of things to be excited about this week- the apple pie Keri made last night, being in charge of both spirituality night AND community night, the mayoral candidates forum tomorrow night, babysitting at Beth's community congress Thursday night (probably during and afterwards I won't think it's very exciting) and visiting NJ and Newark next weekend for our big Halloween party.

The newest Connecticut town I want to live in is Middletown- I change my mind a few times a week though.
