Last night, my housemate and I babysat for dozens of little kids while my other housemate's neighborhood organization had their big congress meeting for south end residents. It was nice to be able to help because I know having free child makes it possible for a lot of residents to come to meetings like that one and to feel more connected to their neighborhood. I painted a lot of little faces and tied a lot of balloon strings around little wrists.
My flat tire was replaced yesterday, and then this morning I got my first parking ticket ever (yuck. it's only $22 but still I didn't think I violated the signs and I wish whatever officer was in front of my house at 3:30 am was on the north end instead, attending to narcotics and homocides instead of my poor little car- that the ticket says is the wrong model).
Because it's a Friday, we can leave after lunch hours end at 2. Till the clients arrive, I'll be listening to Marvin Gaye cds with the kitchen staff and reading Country Time or Country Cottage or some kind of magazine like that- I heard the church staff used to donate cooler magazines, but they kept getting stolen. Surprisingly, none of the homeless and low-income clients need Martha Stewart to tell them how to decorate all of the cookies that they're not baking.
